Exam Tips for Chemistry

  • 1Organic mechanisms: arrow-pushing MUST show electron-pair movement, not atom movement.
  • 2Equilibria: Le Chatelier's principle must be stated AND explained — not just listed.
  • 3Spectroscopy: IR, NMR, and mass spec appear together — practise identifying compounds.
  • 4Moles: always write a balanced equation before any mole calculation.
  • 5E°cell = E°cathode − E°anode — use the data booklet; don't memorise electrode potentials.
