How to turn Principles of Accounting revision into marks

Accounting improves through disciplined records, visible workings, and reconciliation. Har figure ka source trace karo so an error can be found and corrected instead of hidden inside the final statement.

Answer method

  1. Identify the account, period, transaction effect, and debit-credit entries before posting.
  2. Show calculations and labels for adjustments rather than inserting unexplained figures.
  3. Carry balances consistently into the correct statement and section.
  4. Reconcile totals and investigate the first difference instead of changing a figure to force agreement.

Common traps

  1. Memorising debit and credit as plus and minus without considering the account type.
  2. Mixing cash movement with income, expense, asset, liability, capital, or timing adjustments.
  3. Losing labels, dates, workings, or units so a correct number cannot earn full credit.
  4. Treating a balanced trial balance as proof that every entry is correct.

Practice rhythm

  1. Post a small transaction set and explain both sides of every entry.
  2. Complete one adjustment with a separate working before the statement.
  3. Deliberately insert one error, then locate it through totals and account logic.
  4. Maintain an error list grouped by classification, double entry, adjustment, and arithmetic.
